Oracle Decks

Manifesting Your Greatness

Manifesting Your Greatness is a simple, straight to the point oracle deck. Just the type of deck you want when your life, your mind, or your emotions are anything but. It’s stylised art is bright, busy without being overwhelming, whimsical, and fun. When I pull this deck off my shelf and open it up, it feels, and presents like, a little treasure trove of well-placed advice.

Manifesting Your Greatness Cards

Manifesting Your Greatness offers 46 cards which is similar to several of the other oracle decks in my collection. However, since I really enjoy the characters and their fresh no nonsense approach, I would like to have heard more of what they have to say. Their voice is so refreshing. This deck is contemporary in both appearance and tone. For example, as you’ll see below, there’s a card that urges you to “Blackout the Media” and another that urges you to “Buck Convention.”

How peaceful the girl on the “Blackout the Media” card looks. Restful, happy, content and connected. I love the colouring on this card too. When I look at the “Buck Convention” card I think of the saying, “You don’t need to wait for a celebration to eat cake.” There are so many things each day we could choose to celebrate. This is not the obvious message of the card. Nevertheless, when I look at the imagery without the caption, that’s the message that stands out to me. When I looked at these two cards together I felt the urge to swap their order. I like the way they read together.

So many of the cards read so well when placed side-by-side. For example, there is a card that urges you to consider “Multiple Streams of Income” which is very applicable in today’s society. But, even so, in any given moment it is important to “Focus on One Thing.” These streams may be unrelated, but when working on each project it is important to give what you’re doing your full attention.

I connected with this message because this is something I have really had to work on. Now I try and allocate individual time to my goals each day. This ensures I continue to make progress on each. Previously I would put all my time into one task which meant I kept worrying about the other things I was neglecting. Seeing these two cards together here has reminded me that I need to make a concerted effort to keep doing this. Some areas of my life haven’t been given the time they need of late.

Manifesting Your Greatness works so well because it has such a practical element to it. Therefore, when cards such as “Live in the Moment” and “Notice the Miracles” pictured below appear, they feel less abstract. They urge you to act. Stop, take a moment, and come back to what is going on right in front of you. So often we stress about things that have already happened and therefore can’t be changed. Or we worry about things that haven’t happened and may well not happen. Why do we what if? our lives away?

Rather than “What if?” this card reminds us to consider “What is?” This can have a monumental impact because generally what is happening in any given moment isn’t that bad. It’s the thought of what might happen that can drive us to distraction. Or, we can spend time fantasizing about a “what if” situation to such an extent we fail to do the necessary work.

When we stay in the moment then it is easier to notice the miracles. When we are always looking backwards or forwards it is so easy to miss what is going on right in front of us. I look at the eyes and wonder how often we are oblivious to the uniqueness and beauty in the faces we see everyday. Can you confidently describe the eye colour and shape of all the people you talk to/see regularly? I can’t.

But that shouldn’t surprise me. Sometimes I realise I have showered, brushed my teeth and got dressed without noticing my reflection in any of the many full length mirrors I would have looked into. I obviously see myself, but, unless something is blatantly out of place, I pay absolutely no attention. Yet, our bodies, our minds, and the environment we spend our time in are all miraculous. Sometimes though we just need a friendly reminder.

This is true for so many things. Often times when things aren’t going well we can feel the need to try harder, work harder, do more. But, as long as we are willing to listen, a simple reminder to take a step back and reassess can often help us to find a better way forward. “Rebalance and Regroup” ties in so well with “Focus on One Thing at a Time” and indeed the book suggests if the first card appears to consider the latter as well.

That moves me on to one of the most powerful messages in Manifesting Your Greatness, “You Will Get Through This.” When faced with a challenging situation, trusting and believing that you will get through it, is so important. Sometimes it may feel as if we go from one adversity to the next, but if that is the case, it means we have got through each incident along the way. Referring back to the initial card pictured above and thus taking the time to “Rebalance and Regroup” can really help us to find a way to deal with, and move through, the experience.

This deck offers a balance between what Amy E Chace describes as “nuggets of truth” and “advice.” “Simplify” and “When Organizing: Like with Like” are the last two I’ll leave you with. When things get too hectic, generally we know we need to simplify things. The problem can be that we don’t really know how to do that. “Like with Like” is such a simple approach and yet it works so well across such a wide range of applications.

This idea is useful for so many things. For example, when studying, when planning a book, when tidying a cupboard, when packing or unpacking, when planning the seating chart for a wedding (although there it might be fun to mix things up a bit). But, you get the point. Grouping like with like makes it easier to organise and when needed, easier to access the information or things we seek. Simple and easy can go hand in hand.

“Fear Nothing” is probably a little hard to achieve but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have its place. This deck is called Manifesting Your Greatness. To be great we need to be prepared to step outside of our comfort zone and do what frightens us. I don’t believe the similarity between this card and the deck packaging and book cover was an accident. We need to be brave enough to share our authentic voice in whatever way we so choose just as Amy E Chace has done with her artwork.

I’m not sure what the quirky critter that graces the back of the card backs is. But she doesn’t seem to care. I see part Pegasus, part mouse, part kangaroo, part My Little Pony and I’m not sure about the inspiration for the front legs at all, but it doesn’t matter. She exists and therefore she is part of the world. What anyone thinks of her is none of her business. How much easier life becomes when we don’t have to worry about what labels others may attach to us.

Measuring at approximately 7.5 x 12.5cm the size of Manifesting Your Greatness is more akin to a tarot deck. I like it because it makes it nice and easy to handle. I love the blue gilding and the sound it makes when shuffling. Although, unfortunately I have found that the gilding has started chipping on some cards. This happened fairly quickly. Generally I’m pretty gentle with gilded cards. Obviously not gentle enough in this case.

Manifesting Your Greatness Book

As creator Amy E Chace writes, “THIS deck has NO RULES … This deck is a friend and not a judge-y friend” and that sets the tone for the book. The book is full colour with the information written in bullet point form. Laying out the meanings in this fashion makes it quick and easy to access what is relevant to your situation. One I love is “The only person to impress is yourself.” You’ll find this as one of the points for the “Buck Convention” card pictured earlier. Simple advice but simple is good. Earlier I wrote that simple and easy can go hand in hand. But, just because a piece of advice seems simple, doesn’t mean embodying it is. That’s no excuse not to try though.

I enjoyed reading this guidebook. Some of her write-ups made me smile. Others really hit home. For “Explore Your Depths,” one point she makes is to, “Be the little fishing dude on the other person’s head. He is chilling out. He has a goal; he isn’t freaking out about it. He is just doing the work and relaxing at the same time.” I love it because it isn’t what you’d expect. Those meanings are there too though. There’s encouragement to try meditation, to focus on healing and to love yourself too. But the meaning I quoted just stood out to me and feels so apt. Such a great way to express trusting in yourself, your abilities, and your dreams.

The book is laid out in a slightly subjective alphabetical order. For the most part it appears how you’d expect. But then randomly some cards are listed in the contents as their full title but they are ordered as if the title had been abbreviated. For example “Every Breath can be a New Beginning” is entered alphabetically as if it started with “Breath” and “When Organizing: Like with Like” is alphabetised under “O” for “organizing”. Also, in the book the cards are numbered and yet no numbers appear on the actual cards.

Unfortunately, I’ve had to put a clip on the spine of my book. When I opened it the cover glue gave and some of the pages loosened. Not ideal, but it’s holding together fine now so it’s okay. However, I have not heard or read about this happening to anyone else. The cards themselves are easy to read so, in general, having read the book to get a feel for the deck, there is little need to go diving into it regularly. That being said, I will no doubt dip into it from time to time for a smile and a refresh.

All in all this deck is worth considering. Its quirky artwork, its contemporary feel, and its overall approach work to make this deck feel friendly, encouraging, and original. I have only recently dipped back into working with oracle cards and this was one of the first ones I reached for. It pairs really nicely with my Out of Hand Tarot, so I’m sure it is going to get a lot more use.
