Heavenly Bodies Astrology
If you’ve ever tried to learn astrology but quickly suffered from information overload, then Heavenly Bodies Astrology could be the solution. It was for me. I have a tendency to go into things way too deeply, way too quickly, and before I know it I’m drowning in a ton of information. I bought Lily Ashwell’s deck to try and counteract that. My intention was simply to further develop my understanding of the astrological archetypes so that I could incorporate them into my tarot practice more organically. But it didn’t take me too long to realise this deck has more to offer than that. About the Heavenly Bodies Astrology cards For…

Heaven and Earth Tarot
I have to admit I put the Heaven and Earth Tarot on my wish list a while ago but it never seemed to make it to my cart. Then I saw on a Facebook page that it was going out of print so, without checking the accuracy of the statement, it became a FOMO purchase. Now, even though I haven’t come across any evidence to support the claim, I am grateful to that post because the Heaven and Earth Tarot instantly became my everyday deck. Initially I bought the card only set but I loved it so much I went and bought the kit as well. The only other deck…

Mystic Palette Tarot
Ciro Marchetti created two versions of the Mystic Palette Tarot that are essentially the same and yet feel completely different. As such I wasn’t sure about the best way to write about them. In the end, I decided to treat them like one deck and present them side by side. Therefore this is a longer post than usual because it is in fact reviewing two decks. So I’ll get straight to it. About the Mystic Palette Tarot Ciro Marchetti describes the Mystic Palette Tarot as “decorative and baroque with a touch of goth, a dab of Arthur Rackham, and a sprinkling of Victoriana.” I’d add, fantasy, steampunk, and Roman Empirical…

Out of Hand Tarot
Jamie Sawyer’s goal in creating the Out of Hand Tarot is to show “that you forge new and deeper relationships with the tarot by seeing how it can relate to your personal experience.” I believe she succeeded. The guide book opens, “Things in life have a tendency to get “Out of Hand”. This deck showcases moments in which we live and experience the tarot.” She goes on to add that the Out of Hand Tarot aims to show “how we live the tarot in even some of the smallest moments.” By the end of this post I am pretty sure you will agree that is exactly what this deck achieves.…

The Herbal Astrology Oracle
The Herbal Astrology Oracle is a very recent addition to my oracle card collection. I added it because I feel more and more drawn to explore the many ways plants can help us heal. This started with The Herbcrafter’s Tarot and continues with The Herbal Astrology Oracle. Each has something unique to offer. Adriana Ayales created this deck “to bring us back to the original consciousness that prevailed on earth for millennia.” She then goes on to write, “Herbalism is the medicine of belonging, a gateway through which we keep alive a very sacred aspect to our source.” Josephine Klerks’ stunning artwork encourages these connections. The Herbal Astrology Oracle Cards…

The Tarot of Vampyres
As someone who has never been drawn to vampires, I had no desire to buy The Tarot of Vampyres. But, I kept hearing about the amazing accompanying book, so I finally relented. I am so glad I did. The book is everything people had said about it and so much more. It drew me in completely and now I cannot imagine not having this deck in my collection. It is one of the most empowering decks I own. The Tarot of Vampyres Cards Ian Daniels, the deck’s creator, writes that “The Tarot of Vampyres is designed to help us face our fears – as well as our hopes, passions, and…

Oracle of the Radiant Sun
Having seen Oracle of the Radiant Sun on several occasions I became more and more curious about it. However, I can’t say it appealed to me. Eventually, for reasons I can’t entirely explain, I decided to purchase it anyway. The fact that The Moon Oracle, also by Caroline Smith and John Astrop, was one of my earliest decks gave me the final nudge. Unfortunately though, when it arrived and I had the chance to flick through it, I did so without any great enthusiasm. In fact I found myself thinking about options I could have added to my collection instead. In an attempt to change that I decided the Oracle…

Tarot of Dreams
Tarot of Dreams is my first Ciro Marchetti deck and I have to admit that the artwork doesn’t align with my general aesthetic. However, I also have to admit that it lives in a wooden box on my desk because it speaks to me so clearly. Basically, this deck served as a further reminder of the need to move away from my favoured art styles and themes more often. The Deviant Moon and Dark Fairy Tale Tarot were others that shared the same message. The Tarot of Dreams Cards There is much to discover in this detail-laden deck. The inclusion of the nautilus shell on the VII of Cups reminds…

The Star Tarot (2nd Ed.)
It seems like every time I go to write a review I am always gushing about the deck. That is probably because I have done my research before buying each new set of tarot cards. If anything I have been pleasantly surprised by a deck. The Star Tarot is a perfect example. Like most of my decks I had looked at it for a while before I purchased it. I was worried it would be a bit too bright for my tastes, but it isn’t. In fact, I would say a couple of the cards in this deck are amongst my favourite in my collection. And, if I was to…

The Moon Oracle
The Moon Oracle was one of the first decks I bought. I have never been big into astrology, (probably because astrology charts always ask for your time of birth and I have no idea and no-one to ask), so I can’t tell you why it drew me in at the time. But it did. Yet this deck has sat, wrapped in a scarf, firstly in a cupboard and then on my book shelf for years without attracting my attention in the slightest. Why? That I can’t tell you either. Fortunately, the other day when I was selecting my decks for my daily card draws I reached for it. I’m so…
