About me
When I’m writing tarot reviews I always like reading about the creators. It helps me understand where they are coming from. And yet, I have previously not written an ‘About me’ because I didn’t think anyone would be interested.
But, if you’ve clicked through to here you’re obviously a bit like me and curious to know who I am and what brought me to creating this site.
I know that I’m supposed to write this in third person but I always find that a bit weird. Mel Salvador has a … Nah, I’m writing this, so first person it is. I’m not really sure what you might want to know, and how much can you really cram into a few paragraphs anyway, but I’ll give it a go. I’ve written a few personal essays that I’ll link below that might give you some deeper insights so here I’ll just share the basics.
If you’ve read many of my posts you’ll probably have already discovered, that I’ve been working with tarot for a while, (at the time of writing this I’m in my 28th year), so I’ll go into a bit more about my life outside of tarot.
I’m a wife, mother and nan and I live on the coast in Australia, about an hour north of Sydney with my husband, my daughter, our four grandchildren, our German Shepherd Asher and our chickens Nutmeg, Dottie and Autumn. Yes it’s a full house, but for the most part, as much as I thrive best in quiet spaces, I love it.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Sociology and History which I draw on surprisingly often when working with and writing about tarot. I don’t think that’s where my lecturer’s thought I’d take my studies but then again neither did I. For a while I had my heart set on becoming an academic, but I decided that wasn’t for me. I like having the freedom to explore whatever interests me at the time too much. This is why tarot is so wonderful for me. There’s so many different tangents to explore. The possibilities feel endless. I love it.
In the past I’ve worked with horses, and in advertising, security, and as a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist but throughout it all I have always loved to write, read, learn and create. Tarot taps into all of those and I’m sure that is why it has been a constant in my life for many, many years and why it will continue to be. Outside of tarot and the things I’ve already mentioned I like camping, road-tripping, the beach, bushwalking, kayaking, crocheting, photography, playing guitar (although way too sporadically for the crocheting and guitar playing), and I love spending time with my family. They are my world.
I think that’s about it for now. Generally, I share more about myself in my posts because for me tarot is very much a storytelling tool. It brings out the stories and it is through story that I relate to the cards. If that’s not your thing this might not be the site for you and that’s perfectly okay. Thanks for taking the time to read this far.
However, if you connect with anything you’ve read then hopefully over time we can establish a deeper connection. I’m always happy to chat about tarot or tarot adjacent subjects so feel free to send me an email anytime you feel called to do so. I’d love to hear from you.
But for now I’ll say, happy shuffling and have a wonderful day.
