    Voyager Tarot

Introduction Before purchasing The Voyager Tarot I had only ever worked with oracle cards. The Moon Oracle was my introduction to divinatory decks. Now I realise that neither of these are typical first decks but twenty-five years ago I didn’t. I had no idea what I was doing. So, when one day during a conversation with one of my massage clients she told me about an amazing reading she’d had using the Voyager Tarot I was curious. In those days she, and her husband, were the only people I opened up to about my “other” life, so, with no other idea about where to start, the Voyager Tarot became my…

    Mystic Mondays Tarot

To understand how to approach writing the post for the Mystic Mondays Tarot I asked the cards themselves because I just was not sure where to begin. Fortunately the cards were quick to jump to my rescue. The first thing that stood out to me, which I have to admit surprised me, was how straight up and down-to-earth the deck is to work with. On my initial flick through all I saw was an abundance of colour and not much else. Laid out in a spread though, the colours and the bold artwork combined to guide my eyes towards whatever it is I need to see. There is little distraction,…

    Tarot of Oneness

This is a magical deck. Decks like Tarot of the Hidden Realm and the Morgan Greer Tarot allow you to get up close and personal with the people on the cards. Tarot of Oneness gets you up close and personal with yourself and what is going on around you. It gives you a first hand perspective that does not allow you to shy away from what is in front of you. The Cards Tarot of Oneness is an 84-card RWS inspired tarot deck with minimal reference to gender. So much so that two 6 Lovers cards are included in the deck to allow users to choose the card that feels…

    Tarot Cards of Modern Goddesses

For starters, not many decks would feature XVI The Tower as its front of packaging image but Tarot Cards of Modern Goddesses does. It is definitely up front about what it is all about. It is an RWS inspired deck ‘created to celebrate the fearless spirit of women.’ This image of Kali serves as a reminder that we can decide what we preserve, destroy, or create. The creator, Cecilia Lattari, believes that ‘reflecting on the symbolism connected to the goddesses means reawakening their power.’ What I discovered is that this is a deck that talks to you as a friend. It shows you what you need to see and trusts…

    White Sage Tarot

White Sage Tarot is a modern minimalist deck by Theresa Hutch. It is a whimsical deck that combines a chakra-inspired, pip-ish Minor Arcana with an animal court and a Major Arcana that, whilst predominantly represented by animals, feels like it has a bit of everything thrown in. That may sound like it makes for an odd mix but, due to the consistency of the muted colour palette, it all comes together really well. The Cards I was drawn to the White Sage Tarot because I like that the chakras form part of the interpretation of the cards. It really puts a different spin on some of them. Incorporating the creator’s…

    Fountain Tarot

The Fountain Tarot is a balanced deck aimed at elevating our perceptions of ourselves and our place in the Universe. Jason Gruhl writes, “The Fountain Tarot mixes classic symbolism with contemporary art, melding the past and present to express the divine.” It’s haunting yet beautiful, subtle yet powerful. This is a great combination for a deck focused on personal development. The Fountain Tarot Cards Often times, counter to what we might think, we don’t need to make bold and drastic changes. And, more often than not, rather than the grand sweeping gestures that gain the most attention, it is the little things in life that have the greatest meaning. The…

    The Wandering Star Tarot

As the inside of The Wandering Star Tarot box reads, “There is a Universe inside you” and this deck wants to help you tap into it. I was fortunate enough to be gifted this deck by one of my clients. Otherwise it may never have become part of my collection. That would have been a pity because this is a deck that doesn’t overload people. The images aren’t threatening and yet they don’t shy away from the messages they need to portray. In trying to come up with a word to define this deck I would say it’s identifiable. It reminds me of a colouring book. When you think of…

    Starman Tarot

If you like street art and David Bowie then welcome to the Starman Tarot. Or if you’re looking for creative inspiration then you may well have found a perfect match. However, if you’re looking for a RWS clone I’d suggest you keep scrolling through my reviews because this probably isn’t it. Although, if you want a tarot deck that adheres to the RWS system but shakes things up a bit, then this deck is a great option. There is nothing vanilla about this deck. Think strawberry flavoured ice cream with a rum and raison twist and a bit of lemon sorbet … then place it on a pizza. As eclectic…

Believe In Your Own Magic Oracle

The intention behind Believe In Your Own Magic Oracle is to provide “you with daily messages of empowerment whenever you’re in need of some inspiration or validation.” However, I feel the power of this deck is that it encourages us to change our perception of how we think we should be and act. In order to own our self worth we need to be truly honest with ourselves. Though at times harsh, this Oracle supports this practice. The Believe In Your Own Magic Oracle Cards If you’ve been with me for a while you’ll know that I’m all about writing, editing and re-writing your own story (not just figuratively either).…

    Deviant Moon Tarot

This is a deck I put off buying for a long time. To be honest, I found it creepy and disturbing. But, I kept noticing that other people fell in love with it once they owned it. I couldn’t help wondering if that would be the case for me as well. I knew it was possible. When I first saw The Wild Unknown Tarot I couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about. Now I own all three of Kim Krans’ decks, (The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit, The Wild Unknown Tarot and The Wild Unknown Archetypes), and her book Blossom and Bones. First, second, third and subsequent impressions can indeed…
