    The Intuitive Night Goddess Tarot

As soon as I saw the hands on the inside of The Intuitive Night Goddess Tarot box I felt connected. That might sound strange but a) I have a thing about hands and b) when I looked at the box as pictured below, I thought yes the power of the Universe is in our hands. This is not the first thing that usually comes to mind when I’m looking through my tarot decks but I think it should be now. Most decks have a sales pitch of sorts on the back of the packaging. On this box there’s no card images. Instead it feels as if it’s all about the…

  • A Runic Tarot card labeled Wheel of Fortune features three mystical women in flowing robes before a large wheel; one stands with upraised arms, another holds the wheel, and the third sits below with a floral crown.

    Runic Tarot

As the name suggests, the Runic Tarot combines runes with tarot. Whilst it’s true that many decks incorporate runes, (Haindl Tarot, Pearls of Wisdom, and Light Seers Tarot to name just a few), the Runic Tarot is different in that it incorporates various rune systems. Thus the runes are a focal part of the cards. I pre-ordered this deck because I’ve wanted to increase my knowledge about runes for a while and this seemed a great way to do so. Now that it’s arrived, I look forward to letting the learning begin. The Runic Tarot Deck These cards are very dark in colouring and so at first they didn’t draw…

  • A tarot card titled The Hierophant from the Haindl Tarot shows a mystical figure with a long beard, surrounded by light and symbols, set against a blue and gold background. Deck Review is written above the card.

    Haindl Tarot

This evocative deck combines many different elements into a cohesive whole. Abounding in symbolism and drawing on different esoteric and religious traditions, the Haindl Tarot offers so much. I thought I’d like it; I didn’t expect to love it. It’s completely different to anything else I’ve worked with. It’s not a Rider Waite Smith or a Thoth clone, but from what I see I would say it’s definitely Thoth inspired. I’d add that it’s mythologically inspired too since that’s what drew me to it in the first place. The Haindl Tarot Deck Hmmm, where to begin? In a deck that incorporates so many aspects what do you give priority too?…

  • A tarot card from the Llewellyn Tarot titled Wheel of Fortune features a woman in a red robe seated beside a glowing, intricate wheel with Celtic designs. The card has ornate borders and the word Arianrhod at the top.

    The Llewellyn Tarot

Imagine a traditional deck inspired by medieval Wales and you have the Llewellyn Tarot. The stunning watercolour artwork depicts Welsh settings, characters and mythology and is worth owning purely for its beauty. I’m surprised it has taken me this long to acquire it, especially since my Mum was Welsh. But, better late than never. Maybe it’s just time now. Another deck, The Universal Celtic Tarot, encouraged me to start studying world mythologies. This deck with its Welsh-mythology-driven Major Arcana fits in well with this. So if you’re into beautiful artwork, great guide books, and/or mythology, and you don’t already have it, this deck could definitely be for you. The Llewellyn…

  • A tarot card from the Universal Celtic Tarot titled The High Priestess shows a woman in a white dress standing between two stone pillars under a full moon, with birds and flowers at her feet. Deck Review is written above the card.

    Universal Celtic Tarot

The Universal Celtic Tarot encourages you to tap into the ancient Celtic wisdom that celebrates Nature. It wants you to recognise and rekindle the connections that may have been forgotten, ignored, or dismissed as life became busier and busier. Rather than letting that happen the creators wants people to immerse themselves “in an atmosphere that makes all kinds of magic possible and quite natural.” And they succeed. The Universal Celtic Tarot is stunning. Some of the cards in this deck rank with some of the most beautiful I’ve seen. The Universal Celtic Tarot Cards As you can see the artwork on this deck is magical. I bought this deck after…

  • A tarot card from the Ancestral Path Tarot, titled 2 of Sacred Circles, shows a person with braided hair gazing at a glowing bear standing upright, holding a book amid magical, sparkling light.

    Ancestral Path Tarot

The Ancestral Path Tarot is a unique deck. It combines the “diverse beliefs of various cultures in order to find commonalities between them” so as to encourage us “to reclaim a personal spirituality that enables us to perceive the divine in ourselves and others.” This is such a beautiful approach to the tarot. Tarot helps us to fashion meaningful stories not only about ourselves, but also the human condition. The Ancestral Path Tarot encourages us to acknowledge that not only are we in charge of shaping our own path through what we choose to believe, do, or deny, we are also shaping paths for those that follow us. This is…
