    The Unbridled Spirit Tarot

I had been eagerly awaiting the Unbridled Spirit Tarot since the first time I saw it mentioned on the Llewellyn website. Even though it wasn’t released until 2025 this deck made it on to my “Decks I’m excited for in 2024” list. I was just so thrilled to see a horse-themed deck in the works. I pre-ordered it as soon as I could and even up against all my internal hype, I can say it has not disappointed. Horses were a huge part of my life when I was younger, so much so that my first full-time job was working with them. I have so many memories wrapped up in…

Tarot at the End of the Rainbow

Flip through the Tarot at the End of the Rainbow and you’ll discover a world inhabited by leprechauns, satyrs, faeries, and centaurs, harpies, mermaids, elves, and goblins, giants, sprites, dwarfs, and trolls, gnomes, treants and orcs. You’ll even come across a kelpie and a unicorn-centaur. So yes, there’s many magical folk to meet. Each is there to take you on an adventure but don’t be mistaken on where that may lead. It isn’t all sunshine, although there is always a rainbow. After all, there is magic to be found in the shadow as well. About the Tarot at the End of the Rainbow Deck When looking at brightly coloured cards…

  • A tarot card from The Sacred Sisterhood Tarot titled III shows a smiling woman in green and gold traditional attire, holding a golden cup, with two hands holding cups above her. The words Deck Review appear at the top.

    The Sacred Sisterhood Tarot

The Sacred Sisterhood Tarot is “reimagined around the female identity.” As you’d imagine, its focus is on female empowerment. This is not purely tokenistic, nor is the creator’s approach to inclusivity. Many of their artistic choices are original with a focus on proactivity without promoting a particular way of being. This is what makes this under-rated deck deserving of way more attention. The Sacred Sisterhood Tarot Deck To be honest I don’t recall how I came across The Sacred Sisterhood Tarot. It hasn’t been promoted by any of the more prominent YouTubers from what I can see so I’m guessing it came up as a suggestion on Amazon. That’s a…

    The Unveiled Tarot

I knew The Unveiled Tarot would end up in my collection because I was curious about Jesse Lonergan’s approach. My curiosity was rewarded. I fell for the artwork instantly. This came as a huge surprise because it’s not an art style that generally calls to me. But now I have a whole new appreciation for it. I am fortunate to own many wonderful decks, most I could not imagine parting with, but this one has leapfrogged most of them, straight onto my personal top 10 list. About The Unveiled Tarot Deck Why? Because The Unveiled Tarot is such a clever and thought provoking deck. As a comic book artist, Jesse…

  • A tarot spread with nine illustrated cards laid out on a black surface, each featuring vibrant, surreal artwork reminiscent of The Ten-card spread. The top of the image reads Tarot Spread in black text on a white background.

    The Ten-Card Spread

I came across the Ten-Card Spread in the guide book for The Raven’s Prophecy Tarot by Maggie Stiefvater. She writes that, “This spread was taught to me by a friend after she heard I was struggling with one of the most popular spreads, the Celtic Cross.” Along side my General Spread, The Celtic Cross is one of my go to spreads. Now I have added this one to that list. The layout of the Ten-Card Spread just clicked with me. I found it pretty straight forward and easy to learn which is always a plus. The intention of each position is clear which makes it easily applicable to most questions.…

  • A tarot card from the Tarot of the Witch's Garden titled “Hierophant” shows a robed figure in a garden doorway, blessing two children and a cat. Green vines and red flowers border the card. Deck Review appears at the top.

    Tarot of the Witch’s Garden

Tarot of the Witch’s Garden is the second of Sasha Graham’s tarot decks. But please know they are very different. Her other deck The Dark Wood Tarot encourages you to embrace the shadow, while this one focuses on the light. In the opening pages of the guide book she shares a quote from Frances Hodgson Burnett’s book The Secret Garden which encapsulates the energy of this deck perfectly. It encourages you to both see the magic around you and feel the magic that exists within you. It also inspired me to re-read The Secret Garden which was a joyful and inspiring experience as well. My experience with the Tarot of…

  • A tarot card from the Wild Reflections Tarot labeled The Moon shows a woman standing on a glowing path, flanked by a yellow dog and a gray wolf, under a bright full moon and starry sky with mountains in the background.

    Wild Reflections Tarot

Published in 2024, Wild Reflections Tarot is a contemporary, nature-inspired deck that’s great for beginners. This deck is often compared to the Light Seers Tarot and yes, I agree that the art style is similar, and even that some of the cards are alike. But the focus, the colour palette, and the overall feel is very different. This doesn’t surprise me because I have many RWS-clone decks that feel different to each other in spite of their similarities. Once I started working with the Wild Reflections Tarot I found that to be the case here as well. These cards have an energy that very much reflects their title. This quote,…

    Good Fortune Tarot

The Good Fortune Tarot was one of the decks I included on the Upcoming Decks I’m Excited For post. With artwork by Jessica Roux and a cheeky, yet informative, guidebook, this is an appealing deck. Barbara Moore writes, “the study of tarot is a delicate balance of respecting tradition and not being crippled by it” and the Good Fortune Tarot definitely embodies that sentiment. The Good Fortune Tarot Deck Barbara Moore’s aim was to bring the humour of Marseille decks into a fully illustrated tarot deck. With the Good Fortune Tarot I would argue that she has done so seamlessly. I’ll take XI Justice as an example because it showcases…

    Hanson-Roberts Tarot

The characters who initially seemed a little unusual made sense to me once I reimagined the Hanson-Roberts Tarot as a portal into a fairy tale world. Then everything changed. Once upon a time I looked at the cards and saw frozen figures and the lack of movement in the images bothered me. But, during my interview with the deck it suggested to me that was exactly what I needed to see. I wrote, “I want to bring you into the now, show you a snapshot of the current moment.” From then on I understood the role of this deck for me. It is my here and now deck. A focus,…

    Earth Woman Tarot

Earth Woman Tarot is one of the decks I included on my Upcoming Decks I’m Excited For list. It is one that I pre-ordered so I waited in anticipation for it to arrive. It didn’t disappoint. Tarn Ellis sought to create a deck that encapsulates the ancient wisdom of Mother Nature and the Divine Feminine. Her aim is to invite women to be unapologetically themselves. The guidebook, and much of the artwork, does indeed encourage you to take ownership of your own power. And, I found that some of the changes she’s made to the images, encourage a more nuanced way of viewing certain cards. Add in the scenically beautiful,…
