    Chakra Wisdom Oracle

Short fables uncovered through angelic encounters are combined with the colours of the chakras to produce the Chakra Wisdom Oracle. The philosophy driving this oracle is “enlightenment made simple,” and I feel it most definitely meets its brief. It’s easy to use and beautiful to look at without compromising its integrity. As can be seen by the cards pictured below, there’s a good balance between “things are great” type messages and “you need to take note of this” directives. Even though it was published in 2014 it is only a new addition to my collection, albeit one I’m really glad to have added. The Chakra Wisdom Oracle Deck As the…

Tarot Plain and Simple by Anthony Louis

As the name suggests, Tarot Plain and Simple offers basic, easy to understand information that includes card meanings, astrological and numerological associations, and a few spreads. It can be used with any tarot deck based on the Rider Waite system. Anthony Louis uses the Robin Wood Tarot to illustrate the cards although he doesn’t push this deck. He suggests from the outset to “select a deck that appeals to [y]our imagination and then learn to associate the various symbols on the cards with meanings that will form the basis of [y]our understanding of the Tarot.” I believe this is a valid point. I’m an intuitive reader but I also have…

    Robin Wood Tarot

For those who like nature inspired decks rich in Pagan symbolism that are super easy to read and nice to look at, then the Robin Wood Tarot may well be for you. This incredibly popular deck closely adheres to the traditional Rider Waite meanings so it’s a great alternative for beginners. But, straight up I want to add that this deck contains some over the top nudity that I know some find questionable and I admit some is a tad bizarre. The man on The Lovers card – hmm bananas anyone. Anyhow, it’s been around for a long time. I’ve only had mine for around ten years and to be…

    Sacred Rebels Oracle

I love the borderless design of this stunning oracle deck that’s dedicated to people “ready to celebrate and nurture their individuality.” The Sacred Rebels Oracle aligns perfectly with why I do the work I do. This oracle set encourages you to question, to dream, and to believe. It definitely comes from a beautiful heart space and it’s sure to inspire anyone drawn to its incredible artwork. The Sacred Rebels Oracle Deck This 45 card Oracle deck comes in a high quality two-part box. Inside the quality continues. I love the artwork. The colour palette is muted yet still full of life. Some cards, like the ones pictured above, are predominantly…

    Transparent Tarot

The Transparent Tarot (not to be confused with Universal Transparent Tarot) is remarkable. This complete re-imagining of the tarot encourages users to actually layer the cards. For example, the featured image above combines two Major Arcana cards – 14 Temperance and 20 Judgement. The depths of the insights brought to the fore are incredible. If you’re looking for a deck to inspire, spark, or assist you with your creative endeavours and take them to an entirely new level, I would say you’ve found it. As the book says, “The Transparent Tarot offers a completely fresh perspective and ways of using the cards that have never before been possible.” The Deck…

    Crow Tarot

The Crow Tarot infuses art designed to pay homage to crows and ravens with familiar Rider Waite meanings. The aim was to create a tool that aids and encourages self discovery and I believe this deck succeeds in this. Since people don’t feature directly on the cards you can really focus on the scene and what’s happening rather than getting caught up in who you’re looking at. The Crow Tarot Deck These digitally collaged cards use crows to tell their story so I wasn’t surprised to learn that they’ve developed a significant following among crow-lovers. The images association with the Rider Waite deck is readily apparent. Yet the presence of…

    Gregory Scott Tarot

YouTuber, tarot reader, astrologist and numerologist Gregory Scott is the creator of this user-friendly Tarot deck. The Gregory Scott Tarot is a positive deck that uses relatable images to express the card’s meanings without glossing over the issues, ideas, thoughts and experiences we may find ourselves dealing with. To be honest I wasn’t aware of him before I came across his deck but, especially having seen these cards, I look forward to checking him out. The Gregory Scott Tarot Deck He has played around with many aspects of the tarot with this deck without completely moving away from or dismissing meanings many tarot readers are familiar with. For example, on…

    Rumi Oracle

It’s probably unsurprising that the Rumi Oracle is inspired by the 13th century Persian poet and Sufi mystic Rumi. I first became interested in Rumi’s work when I came across a quote attributed to him: Why do you stay in prison when the door is so wide open? Rumi It was just what I needed to see at the time and it led me in search of more of his writings. I soon bought a collection of his poetry, The Essential Rumi, and a love affair began. I’m not going to pretend every poem spoke to me. And, I’m not going to pretend I understood them all. What I can…

    The Sacred Rose Tarot

The Sacred Rose Tarot is “inspired by the artistry of medieval stained glass windows” and Byzantine artwork with the symbolism in the cards being nature oriented. The book says that the masculine attributes are physical and linked to the Sun and the feminine are spiritual and linked to the Moon but when I look at the cards that doesn’t stand out to me personally. Maybe because that’s not what I’m focusing on. As the name suggests, this deck revolves around the attributes given to the various rose colours. This is an interesting approach that opens up new ways of viewing certain cards and as you may know, I love it…

    Messenger Oracle

When I work with oracle cards as part of my readings, I like them to match in with the Tarot deck I’m using. So, when I saw the new edition of the Messenger Oracle it seemed like a great fit for the Dreams of Gaia Tarot, and it is. There’s definitely a huge overlap between the two decks. The dragons and the Gaian influence are definitely there as is a familiarity with the art style overall. There are some definite new additions too. For instance, several close up animal cards, which I love, and two pastel coloured fairies are part of this deck. The Messenger Oracle Deck This new edition…
